The Española Healthcare Careers Pathway Project (EHCPP) was envisioned by education and healthcare leaders at Española Valley High School (EVHS), Española School District (District), Northern New Mexico College (NNMC), Presbyterian Española Hospital (Presbyterian) and the LANL (Los Alamos National Lab) Foundation (Foundation) in 2020 to meet regional health care workforce needs by providing easier and affordable access to health care education.

Since 2021 the EHCPP has offered career pathways through the Healthcare Dual Credit Pathway program at Española Valley High School, providing accelerated hands-on learning that leads to a NNMC Phlebotomy Certificate and other in-demand allied health careers.
